GOOD TO BE A CHILD AGAIN

There is a story about a father who became disturbed about the length of time his six year old son was taking to get home from school.

The father decided he would make the trip to discover for himself how long it should take a small boy to cover the distance.

The father settled on 20 minutes but his son was still taking an hour.

Finally the father decided to make the trip with his son.

After the trip, the father said, "The 20 minutes I thought reasonable was right, but I failed to consider such important things as a side trip to track down a trail of ants...or an educational stop to watch a man fix a flat...or the time it took to swing around a half dozen telephone poles...or how much time it took for a boy just to get acquainted with two stray dogs and brown cat.

"In short," said the father, "I had forgotten what it is really like to be six years old."[1]

Some times it's good to be a child again.

Children do not have a concept of the past. They do not really care about the future. All they are concerned about is the here and now. Maybe this is the reason why kids are happy all the time and adults are not.

Some times it's good to be a child all over again.

Children are really humorous. I find them funny all the time.

Little Jimmy comes home from school at the end of a term from school with his report card.  The report card was littered with a lot of failing grades..

His parents start lecturing him, and Jimmy explains that everyone in his class did poorly not just him.

"But what about David down the street," they said, "he brought home all high grades!

"Well David is different." He explained.

"How so?" His father asked.

"'Cuz his parents are smart!"

There's a lot of honest innocence about kids.

Two young kids were walking home from Sunday School, each deep in his own thoughts. Finally one said, "What do you think about all this devil business we studied today?"

The other boy replied thoughtfully, "Well, you know how Santa Claus turned out. This is probably just your Dad, too."

One things you cannot remove from kids is their ability to dream.

What is life for if we have lost ours?

It's good to be a child again. We need to dream big dreams.

Let me read you a poem entitled "Into Your Dreams" authored by Suzanne Zoglio and I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

Some stepping stones to dreams are small, Others are large and slick.

Some have rough and ragged edges, For your weary feet to grip.

Some are spaced so far apart Your legs will hardly reach.

Others nest atop each other, Like pebbles on a beach.

For some you'll need to leap with faith, On others, move with balance.

A few will take uncommon grace, For most.your skill and talent.

You know the way, so just begin. Then keep a steady pace.

Stretch and rest. and soon you'll see, You've reached your special place.[2]

It's good to be a child once again.

Children are so special to Christ. While all the disciples were shooing them away Jesus called them to Him and played with them. In fact He even said that unless we have faith like that of a little child we shall not enter heaven.

So it's good to be a child again.

Some grownups feel that children have cornered the happiness market.

You bet they have so why not be a child again once in a while?
